EAA Chapter 22 fly-in at Cottonwood Airport

EAA Chapter 22 Pancake Breakfast and Fly-in

The weather is finally nice and warm here in northern Illinois, and that means the fly-in season has begun.  Last Saturday I went to a fly-in and pancake breakfast hosted by EAA Chapter 22, located at Cottonwood Airport in Rockford, IL.  Cottonwood Airport is a small airport that was founded in 1946.  It has a single grass runway, 18/36, that is 2,540 feet long.  After enjoying some yummy pancakes, I wandered around the airplanes that had flown in for the event, and spent some time taking photographs of the airplanes landing and departing.  There's nothing better on a beautiful spring morning than to hang out with fellow aviation enthusiasts and watch and listen to the airplanes coming and going.

EAA Chapter 22 did a great job with the pancake breakfast and the fly-in.  EAA Chapter 22 also promotes general aviation through Young Eagle flights, aircraft builds, aviation scholarships, and private pilot ground school.  Check out their website at https://www.eaa22.org/home

Until next time, keep looking to the sky and keep dreaming.
